I have been trying to unlock my 3GS for some time now. The first attempt failed completely. I had my confirmation email but then after nearly a month nothing had happened. I phoned O2 and after some time I got through to customer services representative who told me that for some reason my original form had not been sent through to the correct dept. He sorted that out and told me it may be up to 14 days before my phone would be unlocked.

I had a text from O2 which I thought was telling me I had been unlocked. Foolishly I upgraded my iPhone from its YellowSn0w jailbreak/unlock to OS 3.1.2. Then I found that my phone had not been unlocked… I checked the text from O2 again and realised it was not the unlock confirmation…

iphoneTesco is to sell iphone

Hot off the press is news that Tesco have joined in on the iPhone war here in the UK. On the Tesco Direct website confirmation of their move has already been made. It is suggested they will do both the 3G and the 3GS but nothing as yet on pricings.

It is also to be noted that this is a joint partnership with O2 so we could speculate that the rates will stay the same but if tesco history of price slashing is anything to go by we may see them set a president for Orange and Vodaphone to follow.

Let the wars begin?

Should be in before Christmas.

If you are reading this at a sensible hour (i.e. not near midnight) then you will now be able to unlock your O2 iPhone completely legally and, perhaps better, completely free of charge! O2 lose their exclusivity on 10th November when Orange iPhone’s start to go on sale and it is clearly not a coincidence that this is also the date that you can unlock your iPhone on!

Pay Monthly customers can unlock their iPhone, free of charge, at any point during their contract but they will need to pay the remainder of the contract (either monthly or in one lump-sum). Pay and Go customers will need to have had their iPhone for a year and will need to pay £15 for the privelege.

For more information and to apply to have your iPhone unlocked please go to O2’s Unlock my iPhone page.

OrangeOrange have announced the pricing structure for their Pay Monthly, Pay As You Go and Business plans for the iPhone in the UK. Rather unexpectedly no price war has erupted.

Available on Orange from November 10th, the published prices are strikingly similar to the current O2 offering. Take a look at Orange’s prices here and feel free to compare them to O2’s here.

With any luck, Vodafone will be a little more daring in their prices when they launch in the new year and bring the price down on the iPhone 3G and 3GS – both of which are often regarded as over-priced devices!

OrangeOrange have today announced that they will start to sell the iPhone later this year. There are no further details yet but you can pre-register your interest at the Orange iPhone website. Orange currently have the largest 3G coverage in the UK and their recently started merger with T-Mobile should improve this even further. Perhaps this deal might start a bit of a price war and reduce the cost of the iPhone and, better still, persuade O2 to improve their 3G coverage!
