Native Union Moshi Moshi 02 handset

Native Union Moshi Moshi 02 handset

The iPad is a great device, but it is not very convenient for phone calls. Although it does not have cellphone capabilities it still supports Skype and other VOIP apps. Holding the iPad to your face is not a practicality. This it where the Native Union Moshi Moshi 02 handset comes to the fore.

The Moshi Moshi 02 is a traditional style telephone handset that connects to various devices providing a convenient way to chat using your iPad or iPhone. With an additional USB adapter the Moshi Moshi 02 can connect to your computer as well making it a versatile audio handset.

Posimotion Helix gaming grip

Posimotion Helix gaming grip

One of my concerns with the iPhone and games is that is is possible to get a little too enthusiastic and when things hot up the iPhone becomes a little slippery. Couples with that is the difficulty of making accurate and fast taps on the screen and you have a recipe for disaster: a dropped iPhone…

Posimotion have overcome these fears with the $19.99 Helix gaming grip. This is basically a steering wheel style of holder allowing you to keep a good hold on your device and improves the tactile input whilst playing games. The design of the Helix is such that the iPhone can be installed in both portrait or landscape modes.

Since posting our review of the Ecovez cases the other week we have had some contact from Innovez, the company behind Ecovez. Simply put, most of the issues I had with their cases have been resolved… Continue reading »

Sometimes you see a revolutionary new product and you just think “wow”; but then you fear that your excitement will be let down by a poor product and you try not to get too worked up about it. But then, when it arrives and you have it in your hands, you realise that it is, in fact, one of those rare ‘wow’ products that not only lives up to its marketing hype but also to your expectations and wildest dreams. The Ecovez iPhone case from Innovez is NOT one of those. It is, in fact, possibly the worst case for my iPhone I have ever used. Perhaps it may be seen as bad practice to slate a product so early into the review but if you read on I hope you will see just why I feel this way… Continue reading »

Ten One Design Tango case for iPhone

Ten One Design Tango case for iPhone

OK so what yet another iPhone case? Well yes, but this one is slightly different from the crowd. The new Ten One Design Tango cases are made of genuine leather (as are lots of others) but the thing that makes it stand out from the rest is the addition of a Pogo Stylus.

For those of you used to PDAs a stylus is a prerequisite to used the device. This is not so with the iPhone. The iPhone uses a capacitive screen which is not pressure sensitive so a normal stylus does not work. The Pogo Stylus is a plastic stick with what looks like a lump of foam on the end. This simulates the moistness and conductivity of a finger, actually allowing more accurate positioning than a somewhat larger finger.

The case including the stylus is available for $39.95 from www.tenonedesign.com. The full press release follows:

Back in February at MWC in Barcelona we met up with Powermat to see their range of solutions for wireless charging of all sorts of devices (iPhones, Blackberrys, Nintendo DS and iPods, among others). Perhaps most importantly, we have since got hold of some review samples of the Powermat, iPhone case, iPod dock and PowerCube. I’ve been using the whole lot for the last few weeks and can now share with the world the joys (and few low points) of the Powermat system. Continue reading »

Eco-this, eco-that – the whole world seems to be eco-mad at the moment! Good job the guys at Jivo in Ireland are on the ball. They have a biodegradable iPhone case called ‘Leaf’ which is injected with ‘Eco Pure Resin’. This allows it to degrade in 1  to 5 years once dumped in landfill. The product has an indefinite shelf life though and the packaging is also 100% biodegradable. I now have one on my phone, and it’s quite nice! It has a rubberised feel to it adding some extra grip and a nice big leaf on the back in case you forget what it’s called…

Jivo also have some eco-headphones, ‘Elements’, which are made from renewable cedar-wood. I’ve not seen (or heard) these in use but we will try to get some for review in the near future.

They also have a range of other, non-eco, cases and accessories so head over to their website and see what they have on offer!

If you haven’t seen these then basically they comprise of a Powermat (charging station) and some kind of adapted device to allow it to get charged by the Powermat. The adaptation, initially, was an external case for the iPhone or a new backing for some of the Blackberry devices. They have since added a huge range of products to their line so you can charge digital cameras, smart phones, Sony PSP, Nintendo DS, iPod etc. Some of these require the Powercube which contains various adapters to plug into your device (so not really wireless anymore but at least it means less chargers to carry with you!). griffin-myphones-thumbGriffin have released kid friendly headphones that have their volume limited to 85 decibels, a volume limit recommended by regulatory agencies.

Given the ease with which children’s hearing can be damaged by loud music, particularly as they seem almost permanently attached to either a computer, an MP3 player or a portable games console, solutions such as this are to be applauded. 85 decibels is plenty loud enough for even the most ardent fan of loud music.

Designed and built specifically for children, the funky ‘myphones’ are an ‘on-ear’ design that sits on your child’s ears and so does not block out external sounds with soft and importantly, washable, ear pads.
