What’s the first thing you think of when you see a Film tie-in with a game, is it ‘Rubbish’?
Well all credit to Firemint then for Fast & Furious. Despite the film tie-in this is actually a very good game.
I admit I would normally have avoided this, the title alone would have put me off but having already sampled another of Firemint’s games, FlightControl which proved superb I thought it worth a play.
And so the adage, ‘never judge a book by its cover’ is as valid here as it ever was. Released by I-Play but authored by Firemint, Fast&Furious is a superbly implemented and eminently playable game. Making excellent use of the iPhone motion sensors for steering allows you to control the cars as you would if you had a full analogue steering wheel.
The game offers you quick racing action in any of the numerous types of racing including road, drift, drag and GPS and there is also a story mode which presumably follows the film? (I haven’t seen it).
But possibly best of all is the WiFi and Online Multiplayer action. Play against your mates via a local wiFi link or play Online against other Fast&Furious players across the globe.
Firemint have utilised the Cloudcell technology first seen in FlightControl to track your scores and allow you to play Online and this works well.

Although some of the story mode games can be frustrating, overall the racing is superb and possibly the best implemented driving game I have played to date. With the multiplayer options adding another level of gameplay I would urge all fans of driving games to turn the ignition key on this game to ON.
