I frequently press my iPhone into service as a media player. On train journeys or flights I watch TV Shows or Films that I have loaded from iTunes, imported using Handbrake or downloaded from BBC iPlayer (using the excellent iPlayer Downloader).
Hand holding an iPhone is fine for YouTUBE clips but much less fun for an hour long TV Show or a 2hr long film and this is where Crabble comes in. Seskimo have clearly thought about the design of Crabble. Constructed from a plastic type material and looking not unlike the Batman symbol, your Crabble is delivered flat and you fold it in half along the pre-creased seam to form the stand.
Each arm has a claw and a wrist slot, the claw for use when the iPhone is used in Landscape mode and the wrist for use in both landscape and portrait modes.
By adjusting the width of the arms you can adjust the viewing angle to suit. Silicon rubber bands are fitted that provide extra grip and prevent the stand from sliding about on your tray table.
Seskimo’s Crabble is a simple idea that works very well. Although the bend is a simple fold in the plastic, it forms a very strong and almost mechanical hinge. Seskimo claim the hinge will only weaken if you try to fold it the wrong way, difficult to do unintentionally and so far it has withstood my attempts to break it with repeated folding. I can also report that Crabble happily accommodated my iPhone in a Griffin case/shell without any difficulty.
