Fishlabs’ Rally Master Pro is another iPhone driving game. Where most have you racing directly against other cars this is a rally game so you’re on your own (although competing for the fastest time against AI players). The controls are simple with a few options for both steering and your pedals. Steering has the default set to using the accelerometer but you can also choose an analogue steering wheel or a digital (left/right) option. The pedals default to auto-acceleration (where you have a single on-screen pedal to brake) but this can be turned off. You can also swap the side of the pedals using left-hand mode.
Your car, when you drive like me, gets damaged! The more damage you get, the lower your top speed is and the idea is to complete all the stages of the rally without completely killing your car. You can turn off the ‘damage’ but then any fastest times and records etc are not saved however this would make it more child-friendly as a game.

And so the adage, ‘never judge a book by its cover’ is as valid here as it ever was. Released by I-Play but authored by Firemint, Fast&Furious is a superbly implemented and eminently playable game. Making excellent use of the iPhone motion sensors for steering allows you to control the cars as you would if you had a full analogue steering wheel. Continue reading »
